This linocut was inspired by the Long Owl of Hookland, a chalk figure carved into the hills of Hookland, thought to be lost by many for a long time.

'When the giant eyes of the Lost Owl blinked open for the first time in more than two hundred years, I was one of those climbed the hill and held hands with 20 others inside the oval shapes they made. We trod carefully, we came in reverence. Offerings were left. My heart called out the words folkore has gifted us: 'Hail to the Queen of Owls! Grant me a feather of your wisdom! Grant me three drops of your talon-blood to cure or curse!'
