About
At the core of my art is a strong connection to nature; the spirits of animals and plants, landscape, stones, the sea and the elements.
My art is about pattern recognition, weaving dreams, stories and images into a whole.
I have a background in sculpture (I studied Sculpture at the HbK Braunschweig in Germany) and Performance Design (Central Saint Martins in London).
I found printmaking was a way for me to play and experiment with lines and shapes, balance foreground and background, and juggle the contrast of dark and light.
The majority of my prints are hand-printed in my kitchen. I roll out the ink, ink up the blocks and hand-pull prints on the kitchen surfaces.
I sometimes post new prints or work in progress that might not make its/their way onto the online shop for some time (if ever) on Bluesky as @mariastrutz.bsky.social
